On our tour of the MAC today, we visited the Campbell House, which is one of Spokane's famous homes from the turn of the 20th century. It's a fantastic example of English Tudor Revival.

The south side of campus was full of geese today. They must be used to people, as they don't seem to be bothered by the fact that we're in their new territory.
Currently listening to: The clumsy lovers: Let the Sun Shine In
Gillian and I started step aerobics this morning. Figured that now since I am in 'work out' mood I should find out what my apartment fitness center has.

While driving down Sprague in the Valley with Warren today, looking at our potential sites for studio, we spotted this gem. I knew I had a lake, but didn't realize there was a restaurant too (haha).

One of the things I really enjoy about going to school in Eastern Washington is the fact that winters are typically sunny. Today when I got up was no exception. As much as I would like to be outside enjoying the nice day, I think I'll wait until it gets at least into the 30's.
Currently listening to: Cake: Long Line of cars
new and old sketchbooks.... One of the best decisions I ever made during school was to have a semester sketch book to fill up each term with ideas for studio and other design projects. The old ones are fun and useful to go back and look at, and having a fresh book at the start of the term makes me think of all the neat ideas that are sure to come.

Judging was today in our charette.... and we won! Our team received merit for the best overall design of the community, as well as addressing all of the concerns given. I'm pretty happy with the presentation... Chris did an awesome job on the site plan... Heidi, Qi Qi, and I did the perspectives, and fortunately our rendering styles looked almost identical, so no one could tell that different people worked on them! It was a really fun project, I wish I could pursue it longer.

Day 2 of our design charrette in Hillyard. One of my partners, Heidi, and I ventured back out to get some good images of the historic downtown that we could use as inspiration in our perspectives to present our ideas. The snow is still untouched in much of the downtown... We finished our presentation relatively early. Judging is tomorrow, we'll see how it goes.
Currently listening to: Annie Stela: It's You
We started our 45 hour design charrette today. We've been instructed to present a master plan for the residents of Hillyard, an energetic community north of Spokane. We have to incorporate the ideas of aging/health/energy/technology into an old blue collar town... We'll see how it goes.
Currently listening to: Marcy Playground: Gone Crazy
The new nursing building is starting to pop up on campus. Most of the formwork for the foundation and other pours is up. It's been cool watching a project from the ground up, literally. I was trying to capture the cougar logo on the counterweight of the crane. I was much too far away. Will have to try a closer shot next time I am checking the construction.

I started school again today. On my walk into the phase 1 studio building for my last 1st day of undergraduate education.
