Pumpkin Carving
Today the architecture kids went out and picked pumpkins and then had a carving party at Gillian's. While watching the cougar football game! Quite the day, I think we all needed a fun activity to do on a Saturday besides studio work... Plotting
It's presentation Friday.... which means it's time to go in to studio really early to print before anyone else gets there and take all the paper... or blue ink. That's my job! The presentation went well for everyone I'm happy to say. Glad to have this milepost behind us now... 1 more presentation to go... in a month! Currently listening to: Blink182: Enthused

ice cream
So I'm freezing cold all day.... all week even... and I come home tonight and I want ice cream. So Mint Chocolate Chip does the trick! Although now I'm having a bit of a sugar high... which is making finishing this last page of for my presentaion for tomorrow kind of difficult...Currently listening to: Hellogoodbye: I saw it on your keyboard

Centerpiece
I have a new centerpiece on my dinnner table. It's pretty fall-y. The candle smells like pumpkins spice and the way home smells this time of year. I miss that. I'm trying to come up with something good for fall to take to a pumpkin carving party this weekend.... I'm looking forward to this week being over. It's been a long day, up since 3.am. I'm very scatterbrained tonight... I just realized I put a cup of tea in the microwave about 20 minutes ago... it's been done for 18. Better have a look at that.Currently Listening to: The Clumsy Lovers: Red-Haired Boy

Walking downtown
I'm getting pretty speedy getting around Spokane now. I think I almost have downtown all figured out. On foot that is, I quickly realized this weekend with family in town that I have no idea the 1-way streets in the area. Oh well... it happens. Pretty soon it will be back to the suburbia-land called Vancouver...Currently listening to: Grandaddy: Elevate Myself

Bridge
The bridge that is on all the City of Spokane logos. I like it and getting to look at it for a while made me appreciate the construction that went into it.... It's amazing how well it fits into the landscape though. Unlike many bridges, it seems to fit... I like that.Currently listening to: Death Cab for Cutie: Soul Meets Body

diet coke - keys - jump drive - phone
4 things on my table that I would be lost without... Say what you will, I'm still attached to my brick flip cellphone. Diet Coke? Awesome! I'm terribly neurotic about checking for my keys all the times because I'm scared that I'll loose them. I never have, and I wouldn't like to. This fear is now also in part for the reason that surrounds my attached JumpDrive. It currently holds the working draft of my portfolio so I can edit/dump/rework it at a free moment's notice. Nerdy? Yes. Anal? Probably. But I'm at the point where I'll go to any measure to get into grad school next fall. If that means not having a life for the next 10 months, so be it. suset in spokane
Sometimes I think sunsets are pretty.... then I realize that it's pollution that's doing it. But I still secretly enjoy them. It's about this time of year that it starts driving me crazy that it gets dark so early... I associate dark with bedtime. And bedtime at 6.45 cannot equal productivity at any rate. At least we're on the downslope of the week... the past few days have gone by quickly. Woohoo.Currently listening to: Steven Lynch: Almighty Malachi, Professional Bowling God

international building code
Tuesday morning means it's time for another exciting installment of Codes! This episode? Building area and hight and resulting parameters for design. Also including a quick bit about mezzanines.... amazing! In all honesty, I actually enjoy the class. Well... let me add on to that: I enjoy the class when people in there will shut up. (another rant). I'm always there talking to Don before anyone else gets there... today he gave me a few tips on being an architect in health care. Woohoo! It's weird how my professional goals and graduate plans are all falling into place recently. I suppose that's a good thing though.Currently listening to: Little Wings: The Way I Deux

library
A small glimpse of my growing library. Like any good architecture student I have the Fountainhead (my thoughts on it are left alone for the moment)... Breaking Ground by Libeskind is my utmost favorite book though. I wish I could draw and render like the drawing books... Structures or Why things Don't Fall Down makes me think of Professor Carper, because he mentioned it one day, and it made me feel cool. and Zoomscape is an awesome theory book, if you ever want to read about how the media and transportation have changed architecture throughout time. I love reading and wish I had more time for it. I hear that's a good chunk of grad school though. So I may get my wish before I know it. Currently listening to: Jamie Cullum: Get Your Way... dig it.

stove element
I can't believe how cold it is today, what a 180 degree turn from yesterday. It was weird waking up to the sound of the rain. I don't know if I should be happy or depressed. I like cool fall days, and I know the rain is good, but meh. I suppose I'm just very indifferent regarding most things today.

watching the office
This is the beginning of an experiment that Mike proposed. Take a picture every day for a year. As I am not an avid photographer, it will be interesting to see how this turns out. I think it will be a challenge on my part. Keeping a camera with me is one thing, actually pulling it out and using it is another. Nothing much else to say at the moment, it's Thursday night and therefore the Office is on. Besides 24 it's one of the only shows I keep up on. Although it seems that being home on a Thursday night is becoming increasingly difficult. I think I've pegged the wall paint in my apartment to be a glossy eggshell.
